Rajasthan Temple Priest Dies By Suicide After Being Accused Of Theft: Cops

Barmer (Rajasthan):

A 52-year-old priest hanged himself on Wednesday allegedly after being accused of theft in a temple within the Rajasthan’s Barmer district, police mentioned.

Bhimdas, a priest at Raghunath Ji temple, went to work as ordinary on Wednesday morning and after performing prayers closed the doorways of the temple and hanged himself inside, Samdari SHO Dawood Khan mentioned.

A suicide word was discovered close to the physique of the priest, he mentioned.

In the word, Bhimdas wrote that he killed self as he was damage by accusations of theft levelled in opposition to him by the folks of a specific group, police mentioned.

The priest wrote that he didn’t commit the theft and was being defamed by sure folks, police mentioned.

The household of the priest has been worshipping on this temple for 3 generations, they mentioned.

Mr Khan mentioned that there was an incident of theft within the temple late Monday evening.

Some folks of a specific group accused the priest of committing theft.

After the allegation, the priest was interrogated by the police however no case was filed in opposition to him.

A case has been registered in opposition to 5 folks beneath part 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code, Mr Khan mentioned.

The folks had been booked on a criticism of the priest’s brother Dwarkadas who alleged that his brother was falsely accused by some folks and that drove him to suicide.
