A grievance has been filed towards the makers of a Hindi quick movie for allegedly hurting the emotions of the individuals of Odisha by portraying Lord Jagannath and Goddess Narayani in “poor light”, police mentioned on Saturday.
Debiprasad Dash, a lecturer in Jajpur district, demanded an apology from the producer, director and OTT platform Disney+ Hotstar, which is streaming ‘Miyan Biwi Aur Banana’.
Directed by Nina Srivastava, the 20-minute comedy movie was launched in 2019 and carries a social message on sanitary napkins.
Mr Dash filed the grievance on September 3 on the Jajpur Road police station through the citizen portal, alleging that the dialogues within the movie portrayed the Gods in poor gentle and disrespected them.
According to the grievance, a mosquito’s identify is Jagannath in a scene and derogatory phrases have been utilized in a dialogue that referred to the mosquito.
The movie’s narrator reveals her identify as Narayani, widow of Jagannath. The complainant alleged that some dialogues uttered by her have been insufferable.
“All these inflict a severe blow on the sentiments of the Odias across the globe,” Mr Dash mentioned.
“No one has the right to insult our lord,” he mentioned.
Mr Dash mentioned he was ready for police motion within the incident and, if obligatory, he would file a case within the courtroom towards the filmmakers.
