IAEA warns blackout threatens safety at Ukraine nuclear plant

A blackout brought on by new shelling close to Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia
nuclear energy plant has compromised the positioning’s security, the UN
atomic watchdog has warned, including the plant’s operator is
contemplating shutting down the only real remaining reactor, Trend stories citing

“Shelling has induced a whole blackout in [Erenhodar] and
compromised the secure operation of the close by Zaporizhzhia [plant],”
International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) chief Rafael Grossi
tweeted on Friday, calling it a “dramatic development”.

“This is completely unacceptable. It cannot stand,” he mentioned,
calling for “the fast cessation of all shelling in the complete
space”.

“Only it will make sure the safety of working workers and permit
the sturdy restoration of energy to Energodar and to the facility
plant,” he added.
