Police on Wednesday slapped the homicide cost towards a person arrested for allegedly mowing down a journalist together with his automotive in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra, an official stated.
Several media organisations had demanded a probe into the dying of journalist Shashikant Warishe, claiming he had written towards native land vendor Pandharinath Amberkar, who is alleged to be a supporter of the proposed Ratnagiri refinery venture.
The organisations claimed Amberkar crushed the scribe’s bike below his automotive at a petroleum pump in Ratnagiri district on Monday. Warishe succumbed to the accidents at a Kolhapur hospital on Tuesday.
The accused (42) was arrested below part 304 (Culpable Homicide not amounting to homicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Police have added part 302 (Punishment for homicide) within the FIR towards Amberkar, the official stated. He was remanded in police custody in Rajapur until February 13.
